A few weeks ago, Think Big Radio invited me to their Become A Guest segment. The segment interviews leading professionals who are considered “BIG Thinkers” broadcasting internationally. I was given the opportunity to share information about the Mothers of AAMM, Inc. mission to help the community in the healing process derived from being an attempted suicide survivor or suicide survivor. I share my story as an attempted suicide survivor on the following link: https://thinkbigradio.uk/.

How we talk or don’t talk about suicide matters. Suicide can be prevented with a conversation, both verbally and nonverbally. Simply taking the time to listen intently without saying anything yet physically being in tune to the individual is a start. Other times saying something like “I’m concerned about your well-being and I can see you are experiencing some difficult times…” will be efficient in letting the person know you are paying attention to them. Your attention and language can prevent the person from harming themselves.
